Traffic safety plays as a key and integral role in a sustainable transportation development strategy. The main negative impact of modern road transportation systems today is injury and loss of life as a result of road accidents. The success of traffic safety and highway improvement program hinges on the analysis of accurate and reliable traffic accident data, Optimal location of trama care facility (ambulance location, first aid hospital location) and Emergency medical response system for accident victim to reach hospital in  golden hour. This study discusses the present state of traffic accident information practiced in Chennai and also describes the method of developing a road accidents analysis system using Geographic Information System (GIS) for data collection, recording and analysis.
